Reference Networks

A reference network is a grid of measured points that serves as the basis for surveying and mapping a region.

Denmark
In Denmark, several reference networks have been developed with various techniques and technologies.

REFDK and the 10 km Net are the newest of these, having been established with GPS and defined with coordinates from the European reference network ETRS89.  They include 95 and 700 referenced points respectively.

The most comprehensive of Denmark's reference networks consists of 67,000 points located across the country.

Greenland
In Greenland, the National Survey and Cadastre has established a network of GPS-referenced points as the foundation for technical surveying, mapping and geodetic research. This network, known as REFGR, is comprised of 258 points along Greenland's coast and is defined with the GR96 coordinate system. Click here for a more detailed description of REFGR.
